Sunday, 2 May - Service Sheet

The Grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all

PSALM 100             (to be read responsively)

Be joyful in the Lord, all ye lands; serve the Lord with gladness and come before God's presence with a song.

Know this: The Lord alone is God: we belong to the Lord, who made us, we are God's people and the sheep of God's pasture.

Enter God's gates with thanksgiving; go into the holy courts with praise: give thanks and call upon the name of the Lord.

For good is the Lord, whose mercy is everlasting and whose faithfulness endures fro age to age.

PRAYER

Eternal God,

bring us at last to your nearer presence.

where we shall rediscover one another

in the light of your love,

and be given back to one another

in a bond that nothing can sever;

through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen

HYMN 727                                                                                             tune : Chartres

In the bulb there is a flower;
in the seed, an apple tree;

in cocoons, a hidden promise:
butterflies will soon be free!

In the cold and snow of winter
there's a spring that waits to be,
unrevealed until its season,
something God alone can see.

There's a song in every silence,
seeking word and melody.

There's a dawn in every darkness,
bringing hope to you and me.

From the past will come the future,
what it holds, a mystery,

unrevealed until its season,
something God alone can see.

In our end is our beginning;

in our time, infinity;

in our doubt there is believing;
in our life, eternity.

In our death, a resurrection;
at the last, a victory,
unrevealed until its season,
something God alone can see.

PRAYERS & LORD’S PRAYER

HYMN 737                                          tune : Sine Nomine

Give thanks for life, the measure of our days,
mortal, we pass through beauty that decays,
yet sing to God our hope, our love, our praise:

Alleluia, Alleluia!

Give thanks for those whose lives shone with a light
caught from the Christ-flame, gleaming through the night,
who touched the truth, who burned for what is right:

Give thanks for all, our living and our dead,
thanks for the love by which our life is fed,

a love not changed by time or death or dread:

Give thanks for hope that, like the seed of grain
lying in darkness, does its life retain

to rise in glory, growing green again:

BENEDICTION

The Lord be with you

And also with you

Go now in the peace of Christ our Lord

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ

the love of God

and the communion of the Holy Spirit

be with us all

evermore

Amen
