EDINBURGH NORTHWEST KIRK PASTORAL ASSISTANT Edinburgh Northwest Kirk is looking for a pastoral assistant to assist the minister, elders and Visiting Team as well as to engage in pastoral care amongst the congregation and in the community. The post is for 20 hours per week with a competitive salary, initially on a two-year fixed-term contract and with the potential to continue as a permanent position. The closing date for applications is Monday, 13 January. If you know of anyone who might be interested in the post, please let Louise in the Kirk Office know and she’d be glad to send out full details. Further information is also available HERE.
THE CHRISTMAS QUIZ Don’t forget the deadline for Christmas quiz entries is Monday, 6 January.
THE FLOWER LIST for 2025 is now available on the board in the Session House. If you’d like to provide the flowers one Sunday in the coming year, please add your name to the list or contact Louise in the Kirk Office. If you require assistance with arranging flowers or would like to have them arranged for you, please contact either of the Flower Convenors, Dot Kemp or Dot Pendreigh through the Kirk Office.
A CEILIDH FOR ALL is being held in the Kirk Hall on Saturday, 1 February from 6 pm – 9 pm. With dancing and Heather & Kathy’s hot pies, it promises to be an excellent evening. Tickets cost £15 (£5 for under 18s) and are available from the Kirk Office. Please join us on the dance floor or simply come along and enjoy the music and refreshments.
CHRISTMAS CARD APPEAL If you have any spare, unused Christmas cards with envelopes that you just don’t know what to do with, please donate them to the Kirk. We can use them to make up variety packs for 2025! The cards we collected this year were turned into 40 packs and raised £48 for the Christmas Fair charities. Cards with their envelopes can be put in the boxes in the Session House or in the entrance to the Kirk Hall until 31 January 2025.
THE CHURCH OF SCOTLAND STAMP APPEAL is currently raising funds to support the Firmly Planted project in Malawi. The project aims to establish self-sustaining tree nurseries to nurture and protect the environment and protect livelihoods for the local communities. Please do continue to pop your used stamps in the collection box in the Session House.
FRESH START Many thanks for the recent donations of bedding and the new set of pans and a huge thank you to everyone who has donated items over the past year. The Fresh Start warehouse is closed until 6 January so please hang on to any donations until then.
